Auxiliary Update (08.16.23)
The VFW Ladies Auxiliary was founded in 1914 to help Veterans and their families. At the dawn of this new Millennium, that is still the primary goal of the organization. The organization has achieved its own unique identity while working side- by-side with the Veterans who belong to the VFW.
The Department of WI Auxiliary was found on July 30, 1925. On July 20, 2015, delegates to the VFW’s 102nd National Convention in Pittsburgh voted to amend the dated by-law to extend the same membership opportunity to eligible males. The gender-specific eligibility requirement only allowing eligible female spouses and family members of any Veteran of a foreign war had been in place for more than 100 years. Like the VFV, the Auxiliary’s interests have broadened to encompass the entire community.
The Auxiliary embodies the spirit of America that has prevailed through war and peace. It is solidly behind America today as it was when it was founded. The Auxiliary is an integral part of the VFW and supports a host of programs which pursue issues of national importance to Veterans. These programs are designed to preserve Veterans rights, advocate a strong national defense, promote patriotism, and offer community service.
Our Auxiliary works side by side with the VFV on several levels and events, we assist with chicken BBQ’s, funerals, 4th of July parade, community events like trunk or treat and partake in Veterans and Memorial Day services. We attend district and stale functions, while honoring our veterans both past and present.
This year the Auxiliary has been asked to sponsor wreaths across America for the Buffalo City cemetery, we are very honored and excited to work hand in hand with them and place these beautiful wreaths on the graves of our veterans.
My goal as the newly elected president is to keep growing our Auxiliary by numbers and strength while adding new committees and fundraisers so we can better serve and assist the VFW our veterans and community.
The auxiliary has had the honor and privilege of having a dedicated leader and president for the past 4 years. Kimberly Beseler took over at a time when there was no one else to step up into the President’s position, today we are stronger with an increase of members as there is strength in numbers, she alone has recruited 5 new members.
Thank you to all our VFW Auxiliary members and officers for everything you do in making our Auxiliary a strong and healthy one.
No One Does More For Veterans.
